The Art & Poetry of Mary Coleman

So this was a tricky one to illustrate for Inktober day 29. I wanted to draw an airplane made of broken pieces of styrofoam like in the poem, but every reference image I found of styrofoam planes were very smooth and finished with curved edges. So I sort of used my imagination to make the plane look a little more haphazard and rough and like the edges had all been broken to form the different pieces of the plane. I think I was relatively successful and am happy with it. You can read the poem below.
