The Art & Poetry of Mary Coleman

September 1st is fall by my books so I put up our fall decorations. I am done with summer (my least favorite season). Bring on my favorite time of year. Right now I have two fake pumpkins on the table, a table runner with leaves on it, and a pumpkin and leaf wreath hanging on the door.

I’ve been working on illustrations for my book and I have two done. It’s going to be a combination of self portraits done in the mirror and self portraits from childhood photos. I have 85 poems so far so 15 more and the book will be written, it just needs illustrations.

Yesterday my dog had to be rushed to the emergency vet. She has a soft tissue back injury and is on strict crate rest and pain meds for the next two weeks. She already had spinal surgery two years ago so her back is super fragile. It was heartbreaking seeing her unwell and sitting in the waiting room not knowing if she would need another surgery. Fortunately that doesn’t seem to be the case.
