So I started the National Poetry Month challenge and have been writing every day at 6:15am sharp. I started a bit early in case I have some days during April I miss. I can still say I wrote 30 poems at the end of the month.
I am also starting a new painting. I got the canvas prepared today and tomorrow I am going to do the slog of preparing it for painting. That means drawing on the lines of the figures in pencil, outlining the pencil lines with acrylic pen, and filling in the solid background. All things I hate doing, but if I can get them all done in one day, it will be over with and I can get to the fun part which is doing the actual painting.

What are your morning rituals? What does the first hour of your day look like?
I get up at 5 to 5:30 am. I let the dog out, feed the dog, water the plants, and finally brush the dog’s teeth. Then usually I scroll the internet for a bit before starting poem writing at 6:15am. Usually I have something written in about 30 minutes and then I type it up. After that I dilly dally a bit before starting exercise. I go on a run, do strength training, or use the elliptical. That’s the early morning for me pretty much every day.
