So today I started a drawing and poetry challenge where I write a poem and do a drawing 6 days a week until I fill up my sketchbook. The book has 84 pages left to fill so I suppose this is an 84 day challenge. It only takes around 45 minutes to do the oil pastel and around 15-20 minutes to write a poem. So about an hour of creativity a day which is manageable. I’m taking one day off a week (Thursdays) because that is the day I don’t take ADHD meds and I am pretty useless when I don’t have those on board. Thursday is a designated do-nothing-day.

I like today’s drawing but I want to experiment more with smudging techniques. Circular, zig zag, big strokes, small strokes, etc… See where it takes me. I’m working from a book of Japanese medical photographs dating to around 1900.

Day 1. 8×12”. Oil Pastel.
