So I started doing drawings for my new series. I wanted to do some pen and watercolor studies before I dive into oil pastels. I’m feeling a bit nervous about trying a brand new medium. Not expecting much at first, it’s going to be a learning curve, but I think I can figure it out with time. My next day for drawing is Christmas Day and I plan to illustrate a poem before I start with oil pastels. I want to try to keep up with what I’m writing so it isn’t such a huge feat to illustrate a whole book at once. I’ll do my first oil pastel on December 26th.
When are you most happy?
When I am making art or writing. It feels like I’m putting something meaningful out into the world and even if very few people see or read what I do, it still feels productive. I have a very hard time relaxing and enjoying myself in general, but I feel good when I’m creating something. It gives my life purpose.
