For Inktober day 30 I did a rose to illustrate a poem that is a play on a medieval Christmas hymn that I love, Maria Walks Amid The Thorn. I pulled lines from the hymn and weaved them into the poem. A white rose blooming in the darkness seems meaningful here.

What’s something you believe everyone should know.
I think everyone should know how to mend clothing. So much goes to waste that could be simply mended with a little effort. A tear, a button, a broken seam… My grandmother taught me that you can make a piece of clothing last almost a lifetime with simple maintanance.
I organized my art studio. Did a proper deep clean and de-clutter of it (removed 6 large boxes of stuff) and moved around some furniture. I also cleared out the guest room of all the crap that had accumulated in there and cleaned that as well. Now I just need to keep it that way for my mother-in-law who is coming in November. I’m going to try to keep my art studio as tidy as possible as well. I like clean spaces. I keep most of my house very clean and tidy because a messy house is stressful for me. For some reason my studio seems to always be the exception to that rule.
