This poem was finished on the 20th and started on the 18th. So it took awhile to get it done. I’m trying to work on poems over a period of days instead of pressuring myself to write an entire poem every day like I was doing in March. I wrote yesterday but it didn’t go anywhere. Today I have the seed of a new poem started, but we’ll see if it grows into anything worth sharing.

I ran the Hop Hop Half Marathon on Saturday. Here is my finisher’s certificate. It felt like I was going really slow, but it’s hard to move my body fast at its current size. My friend beat me by almost a minute a mile. I ended up at around an 11 minute pace. Hoping by the next one I can speed up some. Proud I did it though, I am still running half marathons at 41 years of age.

What makes you nervous?
Everything makes me nervous. I’m an anxious person in general. The past week has been a lot better though as far as anxiety goes. Not sure what the change was that caused the improvement. Probably the increase in exercise.
I have read that on average it takes a person about 66 days to establish a new habit. So I am starting to establish a morning, mid-day, and evening routine today. It’s something I have been working on and achieving to varying extents for awhile, but I’m going to try to give it my all from this day forward in hopes that my brain will pick it all up as second nature. So yeah, today is day one of 66. I did not exercise today because today is my day off. I exercise Wednesday through Monday.
