Describe one positive change you have made in your life.

I have made a lot of new positive changes in my life via my New Year’s resolutions. Some of my resolutions are things I’m carrying on from last year (like running and meditating for example), but several things are new. Writing poetry every day is one of those new things and it’s been the most life changing. I just started doing that in late February and I’ve really found a way to express myself that I didn’t have before. Well before art school, painting was a way to express my inner self, but I had lost that ability post-grad school and my subconscious was shut off and left to fester. Poetry has re-opened that avenue in my brain, and I’ve been able to get out a lot of pent up emotions and memories.

I’m hoping one day my relationship with painting will heal and I will also be able to use that to express my inner self as well. But that’s going to take a lot of time and being gentle with myself.

Today I did my least favorite thing, strength training. It was the first time in over a week because last week I skipped my strength training sessions. I just have to tell myself it’s 30 minutes. You can make it 30 minutes. A 20 minute video and then crunches and leg lifts. That’s it. Not hard. If you can run 10 miles and be on your feet exercising for multiple hours, you can do a measly 30 minutes of strength training.
