Today I did some abstract drawing. It was really hard as I haven’t worked without a picture or tried to do something that isn’t figurative or representational in a long, long time. I didn’t feel like sharing my work today because it’s so bad right now. I’m only beginning so I’ll just keep the results to myself for now.

Tonight we are going out for Valentine’s Day because it will be snowy and possibly icy on Friday and no one in Portland drives in that kind of weather including us. We decided to go to Kennedy School which is a fun place to go. It’s an old grade school that’s been converted into a series of different pubs and a restaurant all under the McMenamins umbrella. There are also soaking pools there, but I’ve never been to them.

If you had the power to change one law, what would it be and why?

I would bring back abortion in the US because women have a right to choose what they do with their own bodies and it was just a huge step backward having it made illegal in most states.

I was also just informed by my health insurance that they don’t cover birth control due to religious objections and that pissed me off royally. Who are you to choose for me whether I get pregnant or not?! It’s bad enough that they are outlawing abortion, now you can’t even prevent a pregnancy.
