Drawing finished.

I finished the drawing this morning. FINALLY I’m through with the worst part of the painting process. The whole thing took 4 hours to do. Now it’s time for the enjoyable part, actual painting. Tomorrow I’ll fill in the background which will require a couple of layers to get it solid. Saturday I’ll do the face, arm, and hand of the little girl. Sunday I won’t have time to do any art.

Here is a Vermeer study I did when I was 20. It’s hanging over my fireplace and is about 4 x 4 feet in size.

It’s early morning and I woke up 50 minutes ago. I’m trying to find a good radio show to listen to but X-Ray FM only has really sleepy shows streaming at this time of morning. Like new age, soft, long noted songs that make me want to go back to bed.

9:00am

Currently I’m listening to The Fall of Hyperion by Dan Simmons. I got bored of Hercule Poirot stories as I had listened to 30 hours of them. I don’t like this book as much as I liked Hyperion (the first in the series), but it’s okay. At some point I need to read Dust, the third in the silo series by Hugh Howey. I finished Shift, which was the second book, so now I just have the last part left to read.

One of those giant European house spiders (an introduced species in Oregon) decided to invade my studio this morning. I drowned it in bug spray because the first few puffs didn’t do anything, so I just sprayed and sprayed until it stopped moving. It wasn’t even full grown, I’ve seen bigger. They come out of the vents and live in the ductwork of the house.
