

It was chilly yesterday. The house runs really cool usually which is good during summer because we rarely need to use air conditioning, but in the winter and fall, it is really cold, and there is almost no insulation, so heating the house and keeping it warm is an expensive undertaking. Supposedly today the weather is supposed to be in the 70’s so that will make the house a bit less frigid.
Today I need to pick up my bib, shirt, and goodies for the Portland Marathon tomorrow. Usually they include a few treats and coupons and stuff in addition to the shirt and bib. I kind of lapsed in running this week and only did one 5k, so hopefully I’m okay tomorrow. Today I was going to run 6 miles, but I just couldn’t get myself to do it this morning because I was feeling bloated from the pizza last night.
I was going to clean the upstairs today but I unthinkingly got dressed in clothing that isn’t appropriate for it and I don’t want to change. Plus I don’t want to take Ritalin two days in a row. My new plan is to do it Tuesday.
Tomorrow I have to be up at 4:30 am because we need to be out of the house by 6am to get to the marathon in time. It starts at 7:15, but traffic gets bad towards the start of the race, and it’s good to get there early. Michael is going to bring Margot and cheer me on when I get to the finish line which is always nice. It feels good to have someone waiting for you at the end.
We played a really neat game last night. Everyone has to solve a randomized riddle. Each person comes up with an answer and pats the table when they get it, the last person to pat the table becomes the judge. The “smug owl”, as the judge is known by, determines the best answer and distributes cards to the winners. At the end of the round, the person with the most cards wins the game. We had a good time playing it and some of the answers were hilarious.
