So I started to paint the smaller figure. Today I’m taking a break because I painted seven days in a row and don’t want to burn out. I’m finding painting cloth a bit easier this time around after working on my first PPE painting.

Someone on Instagram commented that the style of these paintings is very much like illustrations from the 1950’s. I like that style and I think I am going to continue to aim for that approach as the series progresses.

I ran 6 miles yesterday and am resting today before the half marathon tomorrow. The race is a little disappointing because it was supposed to be a trail run but the post canyon trails are closed due to fire. They are doing “party laps” instead. Nine 1.5 mile laps. That seems boring to me but they aren’t refunding the registration and they aren’t cancelling so I’m going in order to not waste the money I spent. This will be my 8th half marathon this year. Five more after that.

Today we are going to my husband’s company picnic which is being held at Oaks Park. There is going to be barbecue and of course, the rides. One of them got stuck upside down earlier this year and they had to rescue the people on it which took a few hours. I probably won’t go on that ride as I wouldn’t like being stuck 50 feet in the air upside down for an extended period of time.

I still haven’t finished Shift but I will next week. Overall I didn’t think it was as good as Wool but not a bad book. The middle books in series tend to be less engaging. The Fall of Hyperion has been interesting so far. I still have a long ways to go before I finish that so I’ll listen to it while I run the half marathon. There are still two books to go in the Hyperion series after I finish this one.
